How Bull Motor Bodies can help improve your Fleet

At Bull Motor Bodies we understand the purchase price of the service body is not the definitive measurement of value. We understand the “whole of Life” cost of your vehicle fleet is what really matters. When creating solutions for your fleet, we focus on the following:

  1. Vehicle efficiency – We work closely with fleet and operators to understand the specific requirements of each vehicle type.
  2. Vehicle Safety and Compliance – Bull works with fleet to understand the core OH&S and weight requirements expected from light vehicles and provide solutions to suit.
  3. Vehicle turnover and useable life – Our unique chassis mount system enables your service body to be transferred from vehicle to vehicle, lease to lease.
  4. Vehicle Build up Efficiency and Cost – Bull can offer our Fleet clients the complete front to back solution, from the bull bar to the towbar, eliminating the need for multiple suppliers.
  5. Vehicle reliability and downtime – Traditionally, service bodies are hard to repair, our unique module design means in the event of damage, repairs are quick and cost effective.
  6. Vehicle Support – Bull works with authorised smash repairers around the country to carry out any repairs required.

Recent Fleet Delivery

Bull Motor Bodies Qld was recently engaged by one of Queenslands’ largest Regional Councils to develop a specification that would be suitable for their Plumbing Department.

By visiting the Council Workshop and meeting with the individual operators and Fleet Manager, Bull Motor Bodies was able to fully understand the functionality required on a daily basis and assist the Fleet Manager in producing a standardised build for this department.  The final build specification will maximise the productivity of individual operators in the field and, when necessary allow vehicles to be swapped between operators with a minimum of disruption.

Put your canopy to work!

Advertising and promoting your business can be expensive and cost thousands of dollars every year, so it is important to make sure you get the most out of every advertising dollar spent.

A simple and cost effective solution is to turn what you already have, your work vehicle, into your very own mobile billboard, promoting your business and building your brand 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year.  Even when you aren’t working, your vehicle will be working for you!!

Vehicle signage is becoming an increasingly popular way for businesses to advertise.

If you don’t believe us, take a look around next time you go shopping and see just how many vehicles in the carpark are promoting someone else’s business and building their brand.

According to studies conducted by the Outdoor Advertising Association of America and the American Trucking Association, it was discovered that:

75% of drivers react positively to vehicle wrap advertising

  • Of the drivers polled, 96% said they notice ads on vehicles
  • An overwhelming 98% said they believe vehicle graphics produce positive brand images
  • 96% think vehicle wraps are more effective than billboards
  • 75% said they form opinions about a brand from fleet graphics

These are pretty powerful statistics and one would think that the results of the same studies in Australia would produce similar results.

Our Bull Canopies and Toolboxes, not only provide an efficient mobile work space, but the full length single surface doors are the perfect blank canvas for you create your very own mobile billboard.

In fact some of our customers have already put their canopies to work!

The making of a monster…canopy that is!

While we build canopies every day of the week, building a canopy for a F Truck certainly isn’t the everyday.

With their current set up not meeting their needs, our clients approached us wanting all the features that a standard Bull Canopy provides, but just on a much bigger scale, and we were up to the challenge.

The solution was a 2 door Metro Range Canopy, with provision for two external wheel holders, built onto a tray measuring 2000mm wide x 2400 mm long.

After a lot of planning, in both our Queensland and Western Australia offices, production started and once we saw the finished tray, we could all really start to envisage the finished size of this canopy.

The tray though, was just the foundation for what was to come.  While Tony, one of our skilled builders, isn’t the tallest in the workshop, he certainly started to look shorter during the build process.  The completed canopy measured in at 2000 mm wide  x 2450 mm long.

Once the build was complete, it was onto paint for the next step in the process.  The canopy certainly filled the paint booth and needed enough to paint four standard canopies!  That’s more paint than it takes to paint the interior surfaces in an average lounge and dining room!

photo3

While the scale of this build is larger than normal, the standard build features remain the same.

  • Built from 3mm aluminium
  • Fitted to chassis
  • LED tail lights and LED number plate light
  • Rope rails, mud guards and mud flaps
  • Internal seals and gutter system – guaranteed to be both water proof and dust proof
  • Unistrut channel internal and external, enables easy install and removal of options and other parts.
  • Door open safety alarms.
  • Full length side doors.
  • Universal mount system – canopy is Interchangeable on any standard size cab chassis.

Once the canopy was built, it was onto the custom designed internal fitout, which consisted of

    • 3 x 1500mm long x 607mm wide x 350mm high drawer units, some with internal partitions, fitted side by side
    • Internal lights
    • Fire extinguisher
    • High level shelf
    • Fridge Slide
    • Tie down points
    • Repositioning of existing secondary battery system and solar panels

We think you’ll agree, the end result is something pretty awesome.

To the canopy owners we wish you many safe travels for the roads ahead.  We look forward to seeing pictures of your adventures.

overweight vehicle

Is Your Vehicle Overweight??

Vehicle weight is an important consideration for all our clients and is essential to the safe operation of any vehicle.  Heavy fines, as well as the loss of demerit points, have been handed out to drivers of vehicles that are overloaded.

At Bull Motor Bodies, we’ve engineered our canopies with vehicle weight in mind.  By using high grade, 3mm aluminium we have been able to produce a superior canopy that is very strong and durable, but remains lightweight.

Removing a standard style side tray and replacing with a Bull Canopy can add as little as 50kg to your overall vehicle weight.  In fact, a bull canopy is comparative to the weight of a styleside tray and fiberglass canopy.

To help you work out if your vehicle is at danger of being overweight, we’ve put together some definitions that may help you.

Gross Vehicle Mass, is the maximum your vehicle can weigh when fully loaded and is specified by the vehicle manufacturer.  The GVM for your vehicle can usually be found on the on the information panel generally found in the front driver’s door opening.

Tare Mass is the total weight of an empty vehicle with standard equipment, all necessary operating consumables such as motor oil, transmission oil, coolant, air conditioning refrigerant and only 10 litres of fuel in the tank.

Kerb Mass is the same as Tare Mass, but with a full tank of fuel and without any accessories fitted, such as canopies, bull bars, etc.  i.e. your vehicle parked on the kerb with a full tank, ready to go.

Occupants are persons travelling in the vehicle and are rated, including luggage, at 136kg per person.

Occupants weight (kg) is 136kg multiplied by the maximum allowable occupants.

Payload is the maximum weight in cargo, occupants and fuel the vehicle is registered to carry as specified by the manufacturer.  When calculating payload the maximum amount of occupants must be included, i.e. for a dual cab vehicle occupants are 5 (sometimes rated as 4) so an additional 680kgs needs to be added to the payload calculator.

To calculate your Payload capacity simply deduct the Kerb Mass of your vehicle from the GVM and you are left with the weight of what can be loaded into the vehicle.

If the weight of what will be loaded into the vehicle is more than the Payload Capacity, your vehicle will be overweight and you will need to consider reducing your payload or purchasing a GVM upgrade.

Vans vs Canopies Front REV2 - National - Crop

Bull Canopy vs Vans

Interchangeability, safety, security and comfort are just some of the reasons why Bull Canopies are being chosen over traditions vans.

Interchangeability
Make your investment go further

Bull Motor Bodies unique universal mounting system allows users to transfer all of our chassis mounted bodies from vehicle to vehicle, regardless of make or model.  Set up your body once and simply transfer it from ute to ute.

Our modular build system not only keeps the quality of our product to the highest of standards but also allows quick and cost effective repairs to be completed anywhere in the country.

Safety
Protect yourself, your workers and your family

All leading utes now have 5 star ANCAP safety ratings.  No van in Australia can match this.  This added with superior gross vehicle and combined vehicle masses ensures your vehicle is both safe and compliant at all times.

Modern utes not only match the ride and handling of passenger vehicles but offer safety features such as stability control, anti lock brakes, curtain side airbags and traction control as standard.

Security
Protect your assets

Our vast experience in dealing with all industries across Australia means we have the most appropriate solution to suit your specific needs.  These include shelving, drawers, workbenches, roof racks and underbody solutions to suit all your required tools and equipment.

Bodies are able to be connected to the vehicles central locking and alarm system giving you piece of mind when leaving your vehicle.

Comfort
Be comfortable, no matter what the conditions

Utes provide better driver comfort and seat positioning relative to vans.  Models are available in 4×4 allowing greater flexibility and performance in all conditions around Australia.

Our design of canopy allows easy access to all tools and equipment in comparison to a van where access is gained by climbing inside and stooping whilst you collect your tools and equipment.  Bull canopies allow you to work at the correct height and enjoy protection from the elements under our gull wing doors.
