Factors to consider when managing a Fleet

At Bull Motor Bodies we understand the management of your Fleet Vehicles and Service Bodies is a complex task and a balance between risk, performance and cost.
Risk can be expressed as the agreed unknown risk associated with the asset performance. We can deal with risk by reducing, avoiding or transferring it, to a third party eg Insurance
Performance is a quantitative measure which includes Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Supportability.
Cost is expressed in dollar terms, but may also include other measures.  Cost is more than the initial cost of procurement, but also risk mitigation measures such as maintenance and spares and ongoing costs such as fuel.  It may also include any costs associated with the vehicle downtime.

At Bull Motor Bodies our aim is to deliver a complete front to back solution that takes into consideration all of the above for fleet managers. The result is a fleet that is compliant, efficient and productive in the field.

To achieve this, our Fleet Specialists take the time to gain an in depth knowledge of individual operator needs by understanding:

• The current fleet configuration
• Fleet performance, both vehicle and service body
• OH&S requirements
• Productivity, weights & efficiency

How Bull Motor Bodies can help improve your Fleet

At Bull Motor Bodies we understand the purchase price of the service body is not the definitive measurement of value. We understand the “whole of Life” cost of your vehicle fleet is what really matters. When creating solutions for your fleet, we focus on the following:

  1. Vehicle efficiency – We work closely with fleet and operators to understand the specific requirements of each vehicle type.
  2. Vehicle Safety and Compliance – Bull works with fleet to understand the core OH&S and weight requirements expected from light vehicles and provide solutions to suit.
  3. Vehicle turnover and useable life – Our unique chassis mount system enables your service body to be transferred from vehicle to vehicle, lease to lease.
  4. Vehicle Build up Efficiency and Cost – Bull can offer our Fleet clients the complete front to back solution, from the bull bar to the towbar, eliminating the need for multiple suppliers.
  5. Vehicle reliability and downtime – Traditionally, service bodies are hard to repair, our unique module design means in the event of damage, repairs are quick and cost effective.
  6. Vehicle Support – Bull works with authorised smash repairers around the country to carry out any repairs required.

Is Your Vehicle Overweight??

Vehicle weight is an important consideration for all our clients and is essential to the safe operation of any vehicle.  Heavy fines, as well as the loss of demerit points, have been handed out to drivers of vehicles that are overloaded.

At Bull Motor Bodies, we’ve engineered our canopies with vehicle weight in mind.  By using high grade, 3mm aluminium we have been able to produce a superior canopy that is very strong and durable, but remains lightweight.

Removing a standard style side tray and replacing with a Bull Canopy can add as little as 50kg to your overall vehicle weight.  In fact, a bull canopy is comparative to the weight of a styleside tray and fiberglass canopy.

To help you work out if your vehicle is at danger of being overweight, we’ve put together some definitions that may help you.

Gross Vehicle Mass, is the maximum your vehicle can weigh when fully loaded and is specified by the vehicle manufacturer.  The GVM for your vehicle can usually be found on the on the information panel generally found in the front driver’s door opening.

Tare Mass is the total weight of an empty vehicle with standard equipment, all necessary operating consumables such as motor oil, transmission oil, coolant, air conditioning refrigerant and only 10 litres of fuel in the tank.

Kerb Mass is the same as Tare Mass, but with a full tank of fuel and without any accessories fitted, such as canopies, bull bars, etc.  i.e. your vehicle parked on the kerb with a full tank, ready to go.

Occupants are persons travelling in the vehicle and are rated, including luggage, at 136kg per person.

Occupants weight (kg) is 136kg multiplied by the maximum allowable occupants.

Payload is the maximum weight in cargo, occupants and fuel the vehicle is registered to carry as specified by the manufacturer.  When calculating payload the maximum amount of occupants must be included, i.e. for a dual cab vehicle occupants are 5 (sometimes rated as 4) so an additional 680kgs needs to be added to the payload calculator.

To calculate your Payload capacity simply deduct the Kerb Mass of your vehicle from the GVM and you are left with the weight of what can be loaded into the vehicle.

If the weight of what will be loaded into the vehicle is more than the Payload Capacity, your vehicle will be overweight and you will need to consider reducing your payload or purchasing a GVM upgrade.

Vans vs Canopies Front REV2 - National - Crop

Bull Canopy vs Vans

Interchangeability, safety, security and comfort are just some of the reasons why Bull Canopies are being chosen over traditions vans.

Interchangeability
Make your investment go further

Bull Motor Bodies unique universal mounting system allows users to transfer all of our chassis mounted bodies from vehicle to vehicle, regardless of make or model.  Set up your body once and simply transfer it from ute to ute.

Our modular build system not only keeps the quality of our product to the highest of standards but also allows quick and cost effective repairs to be completed anywhere in the country.

Safety
Protect yourself, your workers and your family

All leading utes now have 5 star ANCAP safety ratings.  No van in Australia can match this.  This added with superior gross vehicle and combined vehicle masses ensures your vehicle is both safe and compliant at all times.

Modern utes not only match the ride and handling of passenger vehicles but offer safety features such as stability control, anti lock brakes, curtain side airbags and traction control as standard.

Security
Protect your assets

Our vast experience in dealing with all industries across Australia means we have the most appropriate solution to suit your specific needs.  These include shelving, drawers, workbenches, roof racks and underbody solutions to suit all your required tools and equipment.

Bodies are able to be connected to the vehicles central locking and alarm system giving you piece of mind when leaving your vehicle.

Comfort
Be comfortable, no matter what the conditions

Utes provide better driver comfort and seat positioning relative to vans.  Models are available in 4×4 allowing greater flexibility and performance in all conditions around Australia.

Our design of canopy allows easy access to all tools and equipment in comparison to a van where access is gained by climbing inside and stooping whilst you collect your tools and equipment.  Bull canopies allow you to work at the correct height and enjoy protection from the elements under our gull wing doors.
